Thomas P. Campbell, Director and CEO of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, announced today that David Chipperfield Architects (DCA) has been selected to develop a new design for the Southwest Wing for modern and contemporary art, and potentially for adjacent galleries for the Arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas, as well as additional operational spaces. The announcement followed a year-long research and selection process led by a committee of the Museum’s Board of Trustees. The committee’s recommendation was approved by a vote of the full Board on March 10.

Japan Airlines (JAL) and TAM Airlines (JJ), both members of the oneworld® alliance, announced today that they will begin a codeshare cooperation on 6 international and 21 Brazil-domestic routes starting March 25, 2015(*). JAL's new codeshare flights with JJ, which are pending government approval, are in addition to the airline's existing codeshare cooperation to the region with its oneworld and joint business partner American Airlines (AA). With the newly added codeshares, JAL customers will have even more seamless connecting service and improved access to and within Brazil.

"We are pleased to offer our customers more routes and destinations with our new codeshares with TAM Airlines," said Hideki Oshima, JAL's Executive Officer International Relations and Alliances. "The new cooperation also allows JAL to strengthen its presence in this ever-growing market."

In addition to JAL's current code share flights (operated by AA) to Brazil via New York, Los Angeles and Dallas/Fort Worth, the airline will offer codeshare flights operated by JJ via London, Frankfurt and Paris as well as New York. JAL will also provide codeshare service on JJ's Brazil-domestic routes resulting in an increase of the number of Brazilian cities served from two to thirteen.

JAL Mileage Bank (JMB) members along with other oneworld alliance frequent flyer members flying on JAL's new codeshare flights operated by TAM Airlines can earn miles and enjoy numerous other oneworld benefits (please see "Reference" at the bottom).

JAL's strengthened relationship with JJ delivers more convenience to customers and the airline continues to embrace new challenges to become its customers most preferred airline in the world.

Macy’s, Inc. (NYSE:M) today announced the completion of its previously announced acquisition of Bluemercury, Inc., widely recognized as America’s largest and fastest-growing luxury beauty products and spa services retailer.

Bluemercury, based in Washington, D.C., currently operates about 60 specialty stores in 18 states, typically in prime street-level locations and urban lifestyle centers, as well as an online business. Macy’s, Inc. plans to operate and significantly expand Bluemercury stand-alone specialty stores, enhance its online capabilities and add selected Bluemercury boutiques and private-brand products to Macy’s stores nationwide over time.

Bluemercury will continue to be led by Marla Malcolm Beck, chief executive officer, and Barry Beck, chief operating officer, who co-founded the company in 1999. Its team of approximately 500 associates will remain in their current roles operating a stand-alone Bluemercury specialty business.

Based on a long-term commitment to new forms of motor sports that advance environmental technologies for automotive society and expand numbers of car enthusiasts, Bridgestone will continue to add to its activities around the world, with a special focus on environmental issues. As part of these activities, building on the preceding event staged in 2013, Bridgestone has chosen once again to support this competition, which promotes the development of environmental technologies for solar-powered cars.

This will be the 13th running of the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge since the event began in 1987. In 2013, 38 teams, including many university students, from 22 countries competed in a 3,000-kilometer (1,184 mile) cross-country race using only solar energy to power the vehicles. The competition features three separate classes, Adventure Class, Cruiser Class and Challenger Class, which will compete for the title of the world’s most efficient solar car.

Through the WSC, Bridgestone seeks to promote its innovative “ECOPIA with ologic” environmental technology; contribute to society through environmental initiatives; help achieve a sustainable society; and support the young engineers from around the world participating in the WSC in their efforts to forge the future.
