iTunes App Store or Google Play market for Android to download this free app. NACTOY Prepares to Name 2013 Award Winners at NAIAS In just a few short days, two of the most prestigious
vehicle awards in the industry will be announced. The North American Car of the
Year and North American Truck/Utility of the Year will be revealed on Monday, Jan.
14 at 7:15 a.m. at a press conference in the new Cobo Center Atrium. Last
month, a group of 49 automotive journalists from Canada and the
United States selected the Cadillac ATS, the Ford Fusion and the Honda
Accord as the finalists for the 2013 North American Car of the Year. The
Ford C-Max, Mazda CX-5 and Ram 1500 are the finalists for the 2013 North
American Truck/Utility of the Year. VIA Motors Brings Aerial Performances by Duo de Luna to
NAIAS Electric vehicle development and manufacturing company VIA
Motors will captivate audiences during Press Preview with the introduction of the world’s first full-size
electric SUV and 800 hp electric X-Truck and with the electrifying
trapeze symmetry of Cameron and Marina as Duo de Luna. The beautifully balanced
double aerial trapeze act, which has thrilled audiences in the U.S. and
Europe, will be performed at three shows daily during Press Preview. The
aerial act’s most elaborate show will be held at VIA Motors’ press conference on Monday, Jan.
14 at 4 p.m. within their main show floor display area. Duo de Luna will
also perform once at Industry Preview on Wednesday, Jan. 16 in Comcast’s main show floor display area and three times during Charity
Preview on Friday, Jan. 18 in a central location on the show floor. Comcast Business Class and the
NAIAS are sponsors of these additional preview week performances. Bond Movie Cars Set to Make Appearance at NAIAS "Bond. James Bond.” Those famous words will be uttered
plenty at the upcoming NAIAS. Covisint, a Compuware company, is bringing
the world-famous 1964 James Bond car, an Aston Martin DB5, to
the NAIAS during preview week. Visitors to Covisint’s display in the Cobo
Center concourse can have their photo taken with a "Bond Girl” and the
iconic Bond car. The DB5 co-starred with Sean Connery in the movie
"Goldfinger” and appears now in the newest James Bond film "Skyfall”
with Daniel Craig. The DB5’s in-car phone and futuristic GPS mapping device
made James Bond the world’s first connected driver. In keeping with this
theme, Covisint will be showcasing the future of vehicle connectivity. Aisin
will be exhibiting a 1967 Toyota 2000 GT like the one featured in the 1967 James Bond film "You Only Live
Twice.” Now modified and dubbed the "Crazy Car,” the vehicle runs
on solar power at speeds of 120 mph utilizing Aisin’s electric drive
motors. The car will be displayed adjacent to the Aisin Drive Green Experience in
Michigan Hall. Charity Preview Captures Detroit’s Giving Spirit Detroit’s giving spirit continues as momentum builds for
Charity Preview night, Friday, Jan. 18, at the NAIAS. Making an appearance at
Charity Preview will be an actress who is synonymous with the giving spirit:
Erin Cummings, the founder of Mittens for Detroit (see below), a community
initiative whose sole purpose is to collect and distribute new gloves
and mittens to children and adults in Detroit. Cummings has appeared in a
number of films and on television, including the TV series "Detroit
1-8-7.” Covering all the excitement of the evening will be WXYZ-TV Channel 7,
the Official Television Partner of NAIAS Charity Preview. Charter One, part of the RBS group,
is the presenting sponsor of Charity Preview. NAIAS Holds "Warming Hands & Homes” Initiative Auto show visitors will be able to add a little warmth to
Detroit-area residents this year through the show’s three-day
"Warming Hands & Homes” initiative. The NAIAS, in partnership with Mittens
for Detroit and The Heat And Warmth Fund (THAW), will be asking auto show visitors to bring a pair of new gloves or mittens or
spare change to donate during the final weekend of the NAIAS, from Friday,
Jan. 25 - Sunday, Jan. 27. Specially marked Mittens for Detroit and
THAW contribution boxes will be located at the front entrances of NAIAS to
collect the gloves, mittens and monetary contributions. Mittens for
Detroit is the brainchild of actress Erin Cummings, who started the
community initiative in November 2010. Cummings will be at the NAIAS to support
the "Warming Hands & Homes” initiative on Friday, Jan.
25, from 4 - 6 p.m. and Jan. 26, from 1-3 p.m., signing autographs and
participating in the NAIAS daily parades. THAW was established in 1985 to
help low-income individuals facing an energy crisis. Listen to WWJ Newsradio

initiative. NAIAS Parades Return; Charity Preview Parade Planned NAIAS parades - held right on the main show floor -- will
entertain show-goers again this year, with the addition of a
first-time-ever parade planned for Charity Preview night at 7 p.m. Attendees at the
Jan. 18 black-tie preview will enjoy the entertaining precision
of Fred Hill’s Briefcase Drill Team, as well as a parade of vehicles and
local celebrities and athletes. During the Public Show, the parades will also
add to the family fun, with two parades daily at 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. (through
Jan. 26). Each parade will feature special surprises from The Parade
Company, organizers of America’s Thanksgiving Parade, as well as local personalities from
television, radio and sports in addition to ultra-luxury vehicles, such as
Bentley and Aston Martin. Detroit’s Very Own Tigers Set to Visit NAIAS on Jan. 25 Fans of the American League Champion Detroit Tigers will
have the chance to see some of their favorite players and even Tigers’ mascot
PAWS during the team’s stop at the NAIAS on Friday, Jan. 25 at 11:45 a.m.
Part of the Tigers’ annual Winter Caravan, the visit to the NAIAS will
include Tigers’ participation in a special parade on the main show
floor and an interactive Q & A session at the General Motors display.
Detroit Tigers scheduled to appear (subject to change) include: Miguel
Cabrera, Justin Verlander, Phil Coke and Torii Hunter. Rod Allen from
"FOX Sports Detroit” is also expected to be there. NAIAS Education Day Focuses on STEAM Now in its eighth year, NAIAS Education Day will add a new
component to its growing agenda: student workshops for high school students
focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM)
education. Set for Wednesday, Jan. 23, Education Day is designed to promote
students’ interest in the vibrancy of today’s auto industry. The event is open
