15:54 Two New Prizes Recognizing Emerging Artists in Expo Chicago
The International Exposition of Contemporary and Modern Art announces two unique
prizes in support of Chicago’s art community. Artadia: The Fund for Art
and Dialogue will award one Chicago-based artist with a monetary prize
in support and encouragement of their work with the Artadia/EXPO CHICAGO
Award. Additionally, the Andree Stone Emerging Artist
Prize will fund the purchase of an artwork by an emerging artist to be
gifted to the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago (MCA). Both
prizes will be awarded at separate press conferences during EXPO CHICAGO (Sept.
19-22) at Navy Pier’s Festival Hall. "We are extremely honored that both Artadia and the family of the late Andree Stone chose to present these new awards during EXPO CHICAGO,” said President and Director of EXPO CHICAGO Tony Karman. "It is through their generosity and vision that we too are able to further our commitment to the local arts community, and I am confident that these awards will have a lasting impact.” Renewing their partnership with EXPO CHICAGO for the second year, Artadia: The Fund for Art and Dialogue will present the Artadia/EXPO CHICAGO Award, a new prize awarded to one Chicago-based artist during the fair. Artists with work on display by EXPO CHICAGO exhibitors will be eligible, and the award will be chosen by an esteemed panel of jurors, led by Nora Burnett Abrams, Associate Curator of The Museum of Contemporary Art Denver. The winner of the EXPO CHICAGO/Artadia Prize will join the Artadia family and receive all lifetime privileges of the Artadia awardees. by Nadine Johnson & Associate
