In conjunction with the presentation of the piece The Monument to Language by James Lee Byars (1932-97), scientists and artists will engage in a conversation with the American artist's sphere.
Created by James Lee Byars for the Fondation Cartier in 1995, The Monument to Language is a 3 meter wide gilded bronze sphere. Yet another celebration of the Fondation Cartier’s anniversary, Patti Smith pays tribute to Artavazd Peleshyan, Joan Mitchell and James Lee Byars – three artists whose personalities and artworks have particularly moved her.
