The 18th Mifur, the International Fur and Leather
Exhibition, opens on 3 March 2013 in pavilions 14 and 18 of the Milano Rho
Trade Fair Complex. More than 200 exhibitors in all will be taking part, with a
good balance of Italian and foreign companies, and there will be 14 specialist
press stands and four themed areas: B.box, Crossover, Glam Av. and K.Point. B.box The world of leather garments, technical fabrics with
borders and quilted jackets: fur is reinvented and mixed with other materials,
for young and sophisticated prêt-à-porter. Crossover The utmost attention to quality, meticulous details and
respect for tradition: these are the secrets of the greatest fur makers and
their new collections. Glam Av. The companies registered with the Italian Chamber of
Fashion, the research, the new styles, and the mood for Autumn/Winter
2013/2014. K. Point The heart of the exhibition, where it all begins: hides,
accessories, buttons, patterns, machinery and tanning processing techniques. International buyers are expected over the four days of the
Exhibition, especially those from Russia – the sector’s main buyers – and those
from the whole former Soviet Union area. And a lot of attention will be focused
on European buyers, too, who showed strong signs of recovery at the last Mifur. At the end of the first day of the exhibition, the
Autumn/Winter 2013/2014 collections will be on display at Italian Fur Fashion
Night, the fashion show for Italian brands: a grand event to celebrate the 65
year anniversary of the Italian Fur Association and a tribute to the Italian
fur brands that are famous around the world. Appearing on the catwalk will be Gianfranco Ferrè Furs; Byte
Giuliana Teso; De Carlis; Fabio Gavazzi; Malamatì Marconi; Manoel Cova By Jun;
Maurizio Braschi; Pajaro; and Rindi. 8.30 p.m. on 3 March, via Melegari 3, Milan. Mifur has always been attentive to and proactive with the
world of young people, and as in previous years it will host the final of REMIX,
the international competition for up-and-coming young designers organised by
the IFTF – International Fur Trade Federation – in collaboration with Mifur,
which will see young designers from all around the world competing. This grand
event in Milan will involve the young designers’ creations appearing on the
catwalk, followed by the announcement of the winners. 8.30 p.m. on 4 March, via Melegari 3, Milan. "Mifur’s results this year are important, as it opened in a
very difficult international scenario: the fact it held up compared to last
year is significant for us as a trade fair, but especially for our exhibitors. In actual fact, if we take into consideration the fact that
the exhibition lasted one day less than in 2012, we could say that there was a
slight increase, but we really do believe that this balance of visitors is very
valuable. As always Mifur has highlighted the best of the world of fur
and leather, it has celebrated the quality and the uniqueness of Italian-made
goods with an extraordinary catwalk – the Associazione Italiana Pellicceria
catwalk show on the evening of 3 March in Milan– and it has brought new
international talents to the fore by collaborating on the special Remix
competition, proving once again that it is the only truly international
exhibition in the whole sector. We look forward eagerly to next year’s exhibition, which
will once again take place at Rho in Milan”. Norberto Albertalli, Mifur
