11:51 The Design Museum and Big Dance invited You
The Design Museum and Big Dance invited children between the ages of 5 and 16 to design a travel card holder to coincide with the Big Dance 2014, capturing the theme of Dancing Places. The winning travel card holder was designed by Berenice Carrier, aged 8, from North London and goes on sale in the Design Museum Shop on Saturday 15 April. ‘When the ballerina dances the books become alive and dance! There are letters coming out of them that makes the librarian want to dance too!' Judges selecting the final winner included Design Museum Retail and Learning Managers, Rachel Attfield - Creative Projects Manager, Siobhan Davies Dance, Graphic designers Joe and Ana from MultiAdaptor and Stephanie Hartman - Design Museum Volunteer. The design was chosen because it brings the essence of dance, and the experiences of everyday life together. The judges felt that there were lots of charming details which made them smile, and that it successfully captured a narrative while inviting you to create your own interpretation. The illustration represents a quiet space that is now alive with energy. Big Dance festival will take place from 5 – 13 July 2014 by #Design Museum
