13:33 Sight Unseen OFFSITE to Return During New York Design Week | ||||||||
Sight Unseen, the influential online magazine, is returning to New York Design Week with the second annual Sight Unseen OFFSITE fair, presented in partnership with Ford and running from May 15 - 18, to coincide with the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) and the citywide festival NYCxDESIGN.
The 2015 show will be held over two floors at Hudson Mercantile, a 12,000 square-foot photo studio located just one block from the Javits Center, where ICFF is held annually. In addition to showcasing a curated selection of furniture and product launches by independent design studios and forward-thinking brands, Sight Unseen OFFSITE has partnered with Ford to bring the design thinking behind the all-new 2015 Edge to life in the form of Dynamic Sanctuary, a special immersive installation by Brooklyn design studio The Principals.
Sight Unseen has also joined forces for the first time with Collective Design, an annual fair featuring works from a global roster of established and emerging galleries. Inside the Collective Design show, taking place May 13 - 17 at Soho's Skylight Clarkson Sq., Sight Unseen will present a special Sight Unseen OFFSITE satellite installation featuring six up-and-coming American designers presenting gallery-level work: Mimi Jung (Los Angeles), Matthew Sullivan (Los Angeles), Doug Johnston (New York), Brian Thoreen (Los Angeles), Steven Haulenbeek (Chicago), and Egg Collective (New York). The lineup for Sight Unseen OFFSITE 2015 will include the following highlights:
A curated design exhibition produced by Sight Unseen founders Monica Khemsurov and Jill Singer, Sight Unseen OFFSITE provides a platform for the most directional, cutting-edge ideas in contemporary furniture design, with an emphasis on independent studios and the best and brightest American talents. The show was launched as the Noho Design District in 2009, then rebranded as Sight Unseen OFFSITE in 2014, when it showcased the work of more than 100 designers and welcomed more than 5,000 visitors, including design and lifestyle editors, interior designers and architects, leading retailers and buyers, key tastemakers, and droves of young creatives.
