Splinter Works is thrilled to announce they will be unveiling several new works over Paris Design Week, at Galerie Joseph in the heart of the Marais from 6-13 September 2014.
New pieces include; the Bodice Rocker tailored in red leather, the Vessel hammock bathtub embellished in hand-applied gold leaf and, after 5 years in development, the Dime cabinet will be on show for the first time.
In the Making: The individual gold leaves are applied and burnished by hand.
Galerie Joseph is devoting its 1,300 square metres of exhibit space across four galleries in the Marais district, (Turenne, Froissart, Muséepicasso and La Piazza) to showcase 80 designers, who trace a path across five continents and two concepts: The 4 Elements in Design (Earth, water, air and fire) and Finding the Perfect… (Chairs, lights and table accessories).
Dime will be exhibited at the 4 Elements in Design exhibition, and the gold leafed Vessel will be in the Northern European designers showcase both in the Turenne gallery. The Bodice Rocker will be vying for its place as the ultimate chair at Finding the Perfect… at the Froissart space.
In the Making: Each segment of the cabinet door has book-matched veneers to achieve a perfect symmetry of the wood grain.
The daily program, includes live performances, lectures with industry experts, cocktails, press events and culminates in a public auction.
The auction is a unique way to bring Paris Design Week to a close. Galerie Joseph has collaborated with the independent auction house, Doré & Giraud Sélection Enchères, who will run the auction on Saturday September 13th at 6pm at Galerie Joseph, Turenne.
Splinter Works will be including the eagerly anticipated, and very first gold leafed Vessel hammock bathtub in this auction.
