Oliver Ruuger hails from a small fishing community off the coast
of Estonia. From a young age he worked and constructed his own toys by
hand, picking up skills that he now puts to use as a master craftsman of
luxury menswear accessories. 'I think that [boldness in
design is] something that is missing in quite a lot of classic, luxury
products. There is nothing wrong with a beautiful, bold little piece.'
Oliver Ruuger His work ranges from bespoke
briefcases to umbrellas, all of which feature a bold, sculptural
execution rarely seen across such traditional items. Working entirely
out of his small workshop in London, Oliver Ruuger's work has also been
exhibited in several museums and galleries, including the Museum of
Modern Art in Rome and the Zabludowicz Collection in London. LN-CC EXCLUSIVE UMBRELLAS
After honing his craft producing
exclusively made-to-order pieces, we are proud to present the very first
retail collection from Oliver Ruuger. The collection launches with four
distinct umbrellas, commissioned especially for LN-CC. Each piece is constructed by hand using a number of ultra-premium, custom materials:
- The handles feature a calfskin base, finished in a number of
exotic leathers including Nile crocodile, Java and ring lizard. - The poles are all crafted from jet-black ebony wood, polished and waxed by hand. - All metal components are machined from solid brass and blackened before being attached.
- As well as being crafted from a custom range of luxury
materials, each umbrella is executed in one of four exclusive
