COGEMAD Redefines ‘The Royal Touch’ at Château Louis XIV

For more than 25 years, COGEMAD has fashioned a new dimension of haute couture living by restoring historic French chateaux and creating modern residential masterpieces. One of COGEMAD’s most dazzling accomplishments is Château Louis XIV, nestled in a 23-hectare forested park between Versailles and Marly-le-Roi. This majestic palace was named Château Louis XIV in a touching tribute to the 17th-century French king and his passion for architecture.

The sumptuously decorated Château Louis XIV displays the visual splendor of Versailles and is characterized by bespoke French design, superior craftsmanship and cutting-edge home comforts. The result is an opus of architectural art with an exclusive royal touch. The chateau boasts two master suites, several guest suites and reception halls, two custom-made artisanal kitchens, an entire floor for recreational activities, an underwater room built in the heart of the moats – the only one of its kind in Europe – a movie theater and a wine cellar.

The reception hall on the ground floor has pride of place in the rotunda drawing room, which is crowned with a ceiling painted in trompe-l’œil style. It was inspired by the fresco conceived by Charles Le Brun for the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte, and took master painters several months to create. This, in addition to the Apollo Fountain covered in gold leaf in the gardens, is one of the centerpieces of the château. Other distinctive elements include a bronze and enamel clock representing the Sun King on the façade, French gardens with paths lined by topiary yew trees, chandeliers and wall sconces from the Grand Siècle period, and ornamental fireplaces with traditional XVIIth-century moldings.

The Château Louis XIV project began in 2008, when a client commissioned COGEMAD to create a regal classic-modern residence. Emad Khashoggi, founder of COGEMAD,is a proven expert in heritage French architecture, having previously restored the Palais Rose in the Vésinet, a XIXth-century chateau that evokes the Grand Trianon in Versailles, and the Château du Verduron in Marly-le-Roi.

COGEMAD’s expert team carried out detailed studies of the architectural composition and decorative elements of the original building to ensure a true rendering of a XVII-century French château. During construction, 17th-century techniques and materials were used alongside specialist 21st-century craftsmen, including sculptors, mosaic artists, iron craftsmen, cabinetmakers, marble masons, landscapers, bronze casting artisans, and coppersmiths. The finished residence respects the heritage aesthetics and spirit of a region and a country, while celebrating the true essence of modern luxury living.
