This March, Capella Singapore is committed to celebrating International Women’s Day on 8 March by honouring local women who have carved out a place for themselves in a male-dominated Food & Beverage industry as well as encouraging and benefiting young ladies from a local charity, the YMCA Project Bridge Vocational and Soft Skills Programme. Joining the culinary team at The Knolls for this notable event will be Janice Wong, owner and chef of the popular 2:AM Dessert Bar, the award-winning Cheese Master and owner of La Fromagerie, Edith Lai-Bompard and Helene Raudaschl, Entrepreneur and Managing Director of gourmet purveyor Indoguna. The International Women’s Day Menu highlights at Capella Singapore’s Mediterranean restaurant, The Knolls, include a premium seafood Mediterranean salad with extra olive oil as well as a crispy parmesan milk-fed veal cutletwith homemade gnocchi morel sauce by Helen Raudaschl. Edith Lai-Bompard will be bringing the best in homemade black truffle cream cheese as well as the Fourme d’Ambert, her signature homemade marmalade. The YMCA Project Bridge Vocational and Soft Skills Programme is a special programme designed for early school leavers and youth-at-risk between the ages of 13 to 19 years old to re-kindle their interest in returning to school or taking up vocational training for future job opportunities. Beyond giving 10% of the proceeds to the Programme, on 5 March 2013, Capella Singapore will be organising a series of talks conducted by Janice Wong and Helene Raudaschl as well as Alsu Abdulina, Director of Spa at Auriga spa aimed at inspiring and encouraging the girls. Alsu Abdulina will also be teaching the girls basic grooming and beauty secrets aimed at empowering the girls to be beautiful both inside and out. The girls will be treated to a delicious gourmet lunch created especially for them by Janice Wong and Capella Singapore’s Executive Chef David Senia. Championing this project is Eric Guth, Executive Assistant Manager F&B, Capella Singapore, "I feel very passionate about empowering young women to think beyond the constraints of their background and culture. International Women’s Day is celebrated the world around where husbands, sons, friends and colleagues take time to honour and appreciate the special women in their lives. This is my way of giving back to society. I want the girls from the YMCA Project Bridge to be inspired by the stories shared by industry leaders such as Janice, Alsu and Helena to grow and realise that they can carve a profession out of a passion.” Also championing the project with Capella Singapore is the Resort’s long time business partner, ewineasia.com who will be donating 5% of its total profits in March to the charity.
