 MGM China Holdings, a leading integrated resort developer, owner and operator in Greater China, is bringing the prestigious fundraising gala of amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, to Hong Kong for the first time as a presenting sponsor. As one of the most significant global corporate events of MGM Resorts International, the inaugural amfAR Hong Kong charity event brings together some of the biggest and brightest names in film, art, high fashion and business for the most anticipated date in this year’s calendar. amfAR Hong Kong will take place on 14 March 2015 at Shaw Studios, with cocktails, a live auction and special performances.amfAR is one of the world’s leading non-profit organizations dedicated to the support of AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment education and the advocacy of sound AIDS-related public policy. amfAR held its first international gala in 1993 and, since then, has become synonymous with some of the world’s most high-profile and eagerly anticipated charity events, helping to raise millions for critical AIDS research programs. Ms. Pansy Ho, co-Chairperson of MGM China Holdings, will preside as the event’s Chair. Oscar-winning Hollywood star Gwyneth Paltrow will serve as the event’s Honorary Chair. The Co-Chairs include global style icons Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, as well as many distinguished luminaries from Hong Kong. Highlighting amfAR Hong Kong is the participation of acclaimed Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos, who is generously donating, through Fundação Joana Vasconcelos, one of her visually stunning artworks that evening, coinciding with her first solo exhibition in China at MGM Macau from March 16 to October 31. Her installation Coração Independente Vermelho (Red Independent Heart) will be at the center stage of Shaw Studios for public display and as a part of the venue décor. Burlesco, a 2014 work, will be auctioned off that evening to help raise much-needed funds for critical AIDS research programs. A live auction will be conducted by Swiss art auctioneer and collector Simon de Pury. “This important and meaningful collaboration with amfAR is, by far, one of the most significant initiatives for MGM globally.
