The Biennale des Antiquaires art and antiques fair, which runs until September 21 under the vaulted glass ceiling of the Grand Palais, welcomes stunning high jewelry creations. Emblematic LVMH Houses Bulgari, Chaumet and Dior Joaillerie are all presenting their latest treasures. Founded over six decades ago, the Biennale des Antiquaires et de la Haute Joaillerie invites the world’s most renowned antique dealers and jewelers to present exceptional pieces. Following Karl Lagerfeld for the previous edition, this year the Biennale invited interior decorator Jacques Grange to stage the event. Inspired by the beauty of botanic arts, he has enchanted the venue by recreating the magic of the royal gardens of the Château de Versailles and the Trianon. His installation for this 18th Biennale provides an ideal setting for exhibits by LVMH haute joaillerie Houses. Bulgari, which is celebrating its 130th anniversary this year, is presenting over 100 new high jewelry creations. In a space inspired by its Rome store – renovated this year by Peter Marino – the jeweler delved into its archives to create pieces that reprise motifs from its iconic collections: Serpenti, Diva and Mvsa. A masterpiece among these chefs d’œuvre is a necklace set with 1,000 carats of emerald “pearls” and decorated with two gold Serpenti, exemplifying Bulgari’s audacity and exquisite craftsmanship. Chaumet is featuring the twelve parures from its Lumières d’Eau collection, inspired by the reflections and depth of light playing on water. The House’s signature “fil-couteau” setting technique uses knife-edge threads to make the metal virtually disappear, the better to showcase the gems. Diamonds are the star in these pieces, set in rivers or harmonized with sapphires, emeralds, tanzanites or lapis-lazuli. It took up to 1,000 hours to craft these majestic creations. Dior Joaillerie pays tribute to Christian Dior’s architectural vision. The pieces in the “Archi Dior” collection revisit the couturier’s most celebrated creations using gemstones. Dior jewelry designer Victoire de Castellane traces the geometric lines of the Corolle, Verticale or Zig-zag collections with draped rubies, diamond ribbons and undulating emerald pleats. The masterpiece in the collection is a Bar bracelet that recreates the cinched waist of the iconic Dior silhouette. | |
