The Celine creative director (Philo) and Net-a-Porter founder (Massenet) joined the likes of Beyonce, Miley Cyrus, Pharrell Williams and Amy Adams on the magazine's annual list.
AP Images Time magazine released its annual 100 list Thursday -- with the inimitable Beyonce on the cover -- which included two leaders in the fashion industry, Celine creative director Phoebe Philo and Net-a-Porter founder Natalie Massenet. Philo's profile was written by friend and fashion designer Stella McCartney, who explained that the Celine creative director has "so much more to offer, and I think everyone is just waiting for her next move." Philo is listed under the Icons category, along with Christy Turlington Burns, Robert Redford and Pope Francis. Last December, Queen Elizabeth II also recognized Philo for her service to the fashion industry, naming her an Officer of the Order of the British Empire.J. Crew creative director Jenna Lyons penned the profile for Massenet. She wrote: "The word visionary is lofty, overused. Somewhat abused. There are few people who can really see something that doesn't exist. Create it. Explain it. And get others to follow. Natalie Massenet is, in fact, that visionary." Massenet -- listed in the Pioneers section with Alfonson Cuaron, Megan Ellison and Megyn Kelly -- blurred the lines between editorial and commerce when Net-A-Porter launched its glossy fashion magazine Porter in February. In addition to Porter, the e-commerce site also has a weekly shoppable digital publication called The Edit. The annual list, which is comprised of influential individuals in their respective fields and is divided into categories of Titans, Pioneers, Artists, Leaders and Icons, also included Miley Cyrus, Pharrell Williams and Amy Adams. | |
