The 23rd edition of CHIC, China International Fashion Fair, the most important fashion fair in China saw the joint presence of Italian clothing, footwear and accessory manufacturers within the ambit of the “theMICAMshanghai & ItalianFashion@CHIC".
In this first edition, the Ente Moda Italia (EMI, Italian fashion association) organised the clothing section and presented over 100 collections of clothing and accessories for men, women and children for Autumn-Winter 2015/2016, collections which worthily represented Italian quality and creativity. The project is held is the vast, brand-new National Exhibition and Convention Center, in conjunction with Intertextile, one of the textile industry’s most important events, which hosted the Chinese edition of Milano Unica for the seventh time. Apart from facilitating important Chinese trade visitors, the fact that we were able to bring together the entire Italian Fashion System under the same roof at the same time, was a strong signal of cohesion: as a country we were able to set aside our individualism and present a united front on the gigantic Chinese market. An important synergy which was given even greater impetus by the visit of the Vice-Minister for Economic Development Carlo Calenda, a visit which served to underline the importance attributed by the Italian government to an industry which is one of the major exponents of Italian excellence. This participation was in fact part of a series of important initiatives in support of the internationalisation of the Fashion Fabrics and Footwear sector. As part of the promotion of the Italian lifestyle on the Chinese market, the fashion-shows held during the trade-fair offered to offer a moment of glamour to buyers and operators present in the Italian Area of CHIC proved to be a great success with the public. Fiera Milano, together with its partners, will continue to work hard to ensure that the System project involves a growing number of Italian firms operating in the sector starting from the next edition due to be held in October. Our aim was to make theMICAMshanghai & Italian Fashion@CHIC the most important B2B fair for Italian fashions in China and after this first edition we can confirm that we have reached our objective.” In a market full of opportunities but which also presents significant hurdles, particularly for SME’s, the ability to present oneself in an organised cohesive manner is undoubtedly a great advantage, enabling firms to reach a critical mass essential for a market of this size. | |
